Hiking, hiking, hiking!
The Malibu Lagoon is an expansive estuary offering leisurely strolls, stunning coastal views, and superb wildlife viewing ~ it’s heaven for birdwatchers! One can see everything from great blue herons, snowy egrets, and snowy plovers who nest right at the Lagoon – look for the little fences that cordon off areas where they nest. Take a leisurely stroll through Legacy Park – the only place in California to see four natural coastal habitats together. Riparian/wetlands, coastal bluffs, prairies, and native wetlands all coexist & a panoply of wildlife graces the area, and one can immerse in nature – Heaven!

In Western Malibu, go tidepool watching at Leo Carillo Beach and see starfish and sea urchins and sea anemones. Look up from the tidepools and explore the beach’s rock arches and sea caves. Watch the surfers, parasailers, and those with stand-up paddles and picnic on the beach. Grab a kite and make a day of it!

Spot Marine animals at Pt. Dume
Long-beaked dolphins, bottlenose dolphins & Pacific white-sided dolphins – they all frequent Malibu’s coastline! The Best Place to see them is Westward Beach or by hiking up the one-mile loop to the overlook at Pt. Dume.
