Get a Malibu Tan in less than 30 minutes.
In our eyes, winter in California is probably the most beautiful time of year. The air is crisp and the beautiful water of the Pacific Ocean is a deep blue. However much we love winter, it doesn’t guarantee the warm sunny days that we are used to having all year round. Most of us can’t stand when the temperature drops below 60, so we stay bundled up in comfortable sweaters and dare we say uggs?
If you are like us, your skin is lacking warmth, a malibu tan and glow. Instead of waiting it out for summer, we are introducing an airbrush tanning and spray tans at the Glamifornia Style Lounge. Malibu has a couple of spray tanning facilities in Malibu but none are as easy and quick as spray tans at the GSL. Our specialists have matched the color you get when tanning on the beach in Malibu. Airbrush tanning is a safer alternative to UV sun exposure and tanning beds. When skin is overexposed to harsh UV rays, your skin can tire out, dry out, and make you look older. So let’s tan smartly people!
Every Tuesday, we will be offering spray tanning treatments and offering a free Madflowers Mini Body Bronzer to help with the upkeep of your tan. Madflowers Body Bronzer is a malibu tanning oil that is made of essential oils and natural scents. It contains henna which is a natural self-tanner. The oils help keep your skin moisturized while smelling good. Sometimes spray tans can have an interesting smell (the way the chemicals react to your skin – sounds worse than it is!). Use Madflowers products to cover the smell with beautiful essential oil scents.
Spray Tanning Questions
How much does spray tanning cost?
Depending on quality, spray tans cost between $85-$150. Glamifornia spray tanning packages cost $85 per single session. Package prices are available upon request here.
How long does a spray tan last?
Spray tans last between five and ten days depending on aftercare. Spray tans only affect the outer layer of your skin which is why all tans even natural ones, fade easily. The more you exfoliate, the faster your tan will fade. If you take care of your spray tan, you can extend its shelf life.
How does a spray tan work?
Spray tans work because of the unique chemistry between the ingredients in the spray tan products and the skin cells on your body. The ingredient Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) turns your skin bronze and brown as the light mist is applied. Spray tans work by an expert airbrushing or spraying a mist of the tanning potion around your body. Many people opt for wearing paper underwear, but that is up to you.
What are the benefits to spray tanning?
We like spray tanning as it provides a nice base tan to work off of. If you spray tan regularly, you can build up a natural bronze color without spending time laying in the beds or in direct sunlight. We combine Madflowers Body Bronzer because the combination is a great way to build a base tan. Especially in the early spring months when the sun starts to warm up and we get unexpected beach days, it’s smart to be tan and prepared. No one wants to see a pale winter bod!
How long does it take for a spray tan to develop?
Spray tans normally develop between 12-24 hours. It is recommended to get a patch test before a spray to try colors and tones if you have never tanned before. We recommend to start light and build your base tan up before experimenting with darker tones. Remember that spray tanning darkens and can develop over 24 hours after initial application. Have patience!
Spray Tan Tips
- Wear dark clothes to your appointment. Spray tans normally don’t bleed once they dry, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
- Shower ahead of your appointment. We recommend not showering for as 8+ hours after a spray tan to avoid rubbing off the tan! For your first shower, avoid using body soaps and exfoliating.
- Don’t wear lotions, deodorants, face cream on the day of your tan.
- If you have sensitive skin, consult with the expert beforehand.
- Start light and work your way to a darker tan!
